Homeschool Greek Volume Two -- Beta Version

Homeschool Greek is not just an ordinary classroom-style grammar textbook. It is a self-study program which works because it was designed to work. Those who follow the program cannot avoid learning Greek. The program first teaches an English grammatical concept, then compares or contrasts it to its Greek counterpart, then teaches the Greek concept. The interactive format works as a private tutor who prompts the student with questions, then confirms or corrects his answers. Repetitions and reviews are built into the program, and diagnostic tests make sure that the student has learned the material by pointing out exactly what the student needs to review.

Features:

* For ages twelve or thirteen through adult. Unlike other grammars, this is designed for students of all ages. The program moves at the student's pace of learning.

* Teaches English grammar before it introduces Greek grammar. If the student has already mastered English grammar, this serves as a competent review.

* Self-teaching: The student doesn’t need a teacher because the text is the teacher. The text asks questions and confirms or corrects answers as the lesson progresses.

* Programmed: The text takes the student through the normal trivium steps of learning: (knowledge) introducing information; (understanding) explaining how the pieces of information fit together; (wisdom) showing how to use the information.

* Diagnostic tests to determine whether the material has been mastered, and if not, what material to restudy.

Homeschool Greek Volume One focuses primarily on substantives (nouns and words which function like nouns), develops basic vocabulary and grammatical concepts. It has an accompanying reader (The Sermon on the Mount, Matthew 5-7) to help the student to develop his reading skill. There are 18 chapters divided into 95 lessons with 15 comprehensive tests. The material begins very easy, gradually increases in difficulty, and concludes with five challenging chapters. The last ten chapters use Biblical expressions for examples and exercises. The student must memorize numerous Greek passages from the Proverbs and the New Testament. The text points out information which the student is required to enter in an orderly Greek notebook. After completing Volume One, the student should have a working knowledge of Greek nouns, pronouns, adjectives, and prepositions and some knowledge of the Greek verb system. Younger students will take up to two years to complete Volume One. Adult students may be able to complete it in a few months.
