Boiler at 2 years

Ava, Just wanted to send you a few pictures of Boiler. He has been, and continues to be a great dog. He now weighs around 100 lbs and is as gentle as can be. The personality test you did when they were puppies was right on, he has the best temperament. Our three kids love him as if he was a brother. He lives like a king! His health has been great and he has shown no signs of hip (or any other) problems.

Annabell at 6 months

"Annabell is the best dog I have ever owned so far. She is more like a human than an animal. Still goes out without a leash--stays right in the yard. Still doesn't chase after cars or any people. She does chase her tail though, she is funny. " |
Ava at 11 months

Hey! How are you and your family? Hope all is well there. We got our first snow a couple days ago. Ava loves it. When we opened up the garage door that morning, she looked out and decided it was time to play right away. She loves sticking her nose in the snow and then looking at you like come on and roll around in the snow with me......

Shylo and his family

Hi Ava,
We hope you and your family had a wonderful Christmas! We sure did...the boys are at a good age to appreciate the true meaning. They still received way too many gifts, though!
Shylo is doing great! I would say he is completely housebroken...he will go to the door and cry if he needs to go. He travels with us everywhere, loves the car, and is well mannered at our families' houses. He is polite and doesn't jump up on people. We are still working on the mouthing, but I would say he's 90% better. We are enjoying the training process, and are looking forward to a well behaved dog! Al's Mom gave us Cesar Millan's 2nd season on DVD, so we've been watching that a lot lately. We really learn from him, mainly what not to do! Most of it is common sense, but we're still learning!
I'm sending a couple of pictures, taken just 1/2 hour ago. The funny thing is his ears...over the past 2 weeks or so, they've been taking turns standing. One would stand, the other would be floppy then vice versa. Literally overnight, they are now both standing! He's looks adorable, and we had to share.
We'll be in touch very soon...Al is in the process of making a video that he's going to send you.
Thank you and take care, Julie

Bo at 14 weeks.

Today it was wet and nasty and Bo and Little Ann played for probably 30 minutes, we were watching from the window. They played "tag" around my husbands car, I wish I had in on tape. It was so cute. He would stay on one side and wait, then she came a running, he would take off in the other direction............I have Bo's food pan on the back porch, we have a window so we can see him out there, anyway, Kristin's cat sneaks on the porch because she does not want to be outside. She will try to eat out of Bo's food and he will go up and with his paw, pull the dish away from her. He is so smart!.....He loves playing with his ball, he is very obedient, even with the kids. I let him in in the morning while I read my bible and he sleep at my feet. He is so sweet!
~Kim
Bo at 18 weeks.

Bo is great....he is such a good boy, I will tell you. My daughter Kayla takes a ball outside, holds it up, tells him sit, he sits, she tosses the ball and he goes and gets it and brings it back. He went w/ us to the vet yesterday and had a check-up. He is just such a smart, obedient dog. I feel like the Lord planned for us to have him, knowing what would be coming w/ Little Ann. So..thank you for Bo!
~Kim
Bo at 7 months old.

Dear Ava, I am glad that you like the pictures! I like taking them. I love to take pictures of things, mainly I like taking "unique" pictures. I am also going to be doing photography in 4-H this year. I am thinking of possible doing the picture of Bo behind the tree. I am not for sure yet though. Bo has just been such a wonderful dog! I love to play ball with him! He was catching a Frisbee at one point, but it broke. So we haven't been able to do that in awhile My grandparents are coming out next weekend and they are bringing a Frisbee with them. Bo is just going to love it! :) He knows the command "sit" pretty well. We are still working on "stay". :) Right at the moment I am teaching him to "shake". He is the smartest dog I think that we have ever had! :) Well, I had better go! Have a great weekend!
~Kristin
Bo at 9 months old.

Ava, Here is a picture of Bo that I took about a month ago. He is one good lookin' boy! :) Mom wanted me to tell you that he actually does have quite a bit of red. I guess she told you that he was more tan. I can't remember. :) Bo still has his ball that you sent with him when we first got him! :) He still plays with it! Well, have a great weekend!
Kristin
Bo at 1 year old.

Ava, Yeah….he can be a BIG baby! He whines while the girls run the cold water on his leg in the bath tub. He puts his head on their shoulder and just whines…then he whines when they have him lay down to put bandages on. It is cute. Oh…one time I was having Justice, my 3 year old, help pick up the front yard. There was a stuffed animal in the yard and I told Justice to go get the little elephant as I didn’t want it outside. Bo knew exactly what I was saying because he went over, got the stuffed animal and brought it and dropped it at my feet…HE IS VERY SMART!!! When it was hot out he would come in and immediately go to where the air came out. He is a sweet dog! The flesh on his leg is almost completely covered w/ skin now, we are almost done with the bandaging!.....He is funny because we had his balls put up for a long time because he couldn’t play sooo….he would bring us his water bowl, a toy of the kids..ANYTHING for us to throw..ha!I’ll get a pic of what his leg looks like now.

Emma at 14 weeks

Merry Christmas Ava!! I thought you might enjoy some current pictures of Emma. She is about 23 pounds right now and all the vet appointments have gone well. Her right ear has been standing for several weeks but the left one still wants to flop over most of the time. I massage it as much as I can to stimulate the muscles. We had Emma and Hobbes together about two weeks ago. They wanted to play/fight the entire time so the visit was kind of short and I did not get any decent pictures. She is getting along well with my cat, as well as my parent's black lab. My brother had his black lab puppy home for Christmas, but they also wanted to play/fight rough, so we kept them apart most of the time. Emma's personality comes out more and more everyday. She is still very laid back, but full of energy. She is my constant shadow. I did e-mail Al about the Schutzhund training, but with the holidays...it's been hard to connect with him. Hopefully soon as she seems to be REALLY into tracking. I hope you have a great holiday!! Sara
Emma at 18 weeks.

Emma at 6 months old.

Hi Ava,
Here are some pics of Emma at 6 months (some you may have already seen...I can't remember what I sent).
She gets bigger and bigger each day. And more stubborn too!! :)
I look forward to being able to spend more time with her outside although she loves hanging in the house with Jada.
She gets to spend the weekend with "Grandpa" next weekend when my mom and I go to Galena. She can hang out with their lab Luke though, and she loves that. The other lab in these pics is my brother's 6 month old puppy, Coal. They had a lot of fun at Easter wearing each other out. Hopefully it will stay nice and dry up a bit so I can bring Emma down to work with her.Talk to you soon and take care, Sara

Emma and brother Hobbes playing in the dog park at 9 months old.

Hi Ava,
I'm sure you're busy with the new babies, but thought I would send some pics quick of Hobbes and Emma and the dog park. Hard to believe they are almost 9 months old :)
They still look a lot alike and LOVE to hang out together. Emma whines when we leave and she has to see her brother go.
They are so much fun and still growing like weeds. They behave very well at the park and we usually get asked by a least one person about them.
Your new little ones are adorable !! I see that they are selling quickly. I look forward to reading the updates and seeing new pictures. Makes me want another one :(
Take care!!
Sara
Emma at 1 year old.

Hi Ava,
Hard to believe that Emma is 1 today. She is such a ham. She got a few new toys and a peanut butter rawhide to celebrate the occasion (and entertain her while I did homework :)). She is still growing like a weed a starting to fill out a little more. I only get decent pictures of her in the house as she never slows down outside. She found a frog in the backyard yesterday and it was the funniest thing. She'd put her nose right on top of the frog and then it would hop and scare her. I wish I had the video camera out there. She is a gorgeous girl and such great company. I'm so thankful to have gotten her after loosing Khia. I hope you enjoy the pictures. And feel free to stop by and see us any time you are in Davenport. I am working second shift right now with Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays off. Otherwise, I will try to get her down to see you before winter and a new batch of puppies :) Take care, Sara

Hobbes at 14 weeks

Ava, I wanted to take a minute and send you some pictures of Hobbes. I'm sure you're more than glad to see pictures of him...he's growing so fast! He now tips the scale near 33 lbs or so and averages about 4 or 5 lbs in weight gain per week; he won't be my little puppy for much longer! He's developing a coat of red, tan and almost silver, which I'm sure will even out with age, but for now it is very nice. The picture of him with the squeaky ball you gave me is the latest picture, taken today, so you can have a reference as to how big he has gotten. Hobbes as been to Chicago twice already and loved his big-city experience at my sister's place, having found a large pillow to pull to the ground and claim as his temporary bed for the night even though he had his own bed...but people things are just so much better I guess (picture is attached of this.) He had his first encounter with snow the other day and absolutely loves it. I tire of being cold and wet in the snow long before he does and he often chases the snow kicked up by his HUGE paws and zooms around the yard. He has a hedgehog toy that squeaks, oinks and rattles and it is his little baby, they usually do everything together. I included a picture of he and his baby, he's using him as a pillow at the time. Potty training is going well. He has his accidents sometimes but I am trying to get him to be more vocal in letting us know when its time to go outside...he's not much of a barker. He does bark at the toilet bowl scrubber, of all things. While its in its holder he goes absolutely crazy barking at it, I have no idea why, but he does not like it and its quite funny to watch. He had his first trip to PetSmart yesterday and everyone complimented about how handsome he was...and how big his paws are! Even with all the excitement and distractions he was well behaved (for the most part) and was a little gentleman and listened to my commands to sit, etc almost immediately. He is extremely obedient and very, very intelligent. I was able to teach him to lie down and shake all within the same week. He and Emma have played numerous times and it's like putting two bulls into a china shop. They love seeing each other and both cause mischief together (Emma more so than Hobbes sometimes.) I'll try and get some pictures of them together the next time they play. Well, I'll let you go. I just wanted to let you know that Hobbes is an excellent puppy and I look forward to the many years I have to spend with him...its nice to have him around and be so happy to see me when I come home from work and be showered with whining kisses! I hope all is well with you and that you had a merry Christmas and will have a happy new year! If you would like to see him for a visit, let me know, I'm sure that'd be fun...even get Emma out as well. Well, I can't see my "trouble baby" at the moment so I'm sure he's getting into something, so I will forward more pics later.
Take care, Shawn
Siblings Hobbes and Emma enjoying a play day at 6 months old.

Hi Ava, just realized it's been a while since I checked in and let you know how Hobbes is doing. He's doing very well and is learning more self control and is finally beginning to calm down. He takes his commands in german, czech and also english and has learned to even resist going for a treat when thrown to the ground if he's told not to go after it...he's extremely intelligent. He's grown to about 60 lbs now and his feet and legs are getting larger than his body, so he's due for another growth spurt soon. Sara and I take the "kids" to the dog park in Bettendorf about two times a week now that its nice out and they love it. They form their own two-dog pack and run around and rough house with each other and they do very well with socialization. Everyone comments on how good looking they are and also how alike they look (they really look like twins.) When I take Hobbes to the pet store now everyone is impressed by how handsome he is and also at how well he (usually) listens to my commands and behaves himself. His coat is changing from mostly black to a mix of mostly black and red with a growing amount of light tan. The colors accent each other very well and look very good. He's also becoming more protective of the house and the family and is a very alert watchdog. He's spent a few weeks in Chicago with my sister who lives on the north side of the city and she enjoys having a 60lb protector with her. He's the family's little baby and is very loved by all of us. He still has his "baby" which is that stuffed hedgehog and sleeps with it in his mouth or next to him on almost a nightly basis. Well, I have to get going, just wanted to check in and let you know that all is well with him. I'll try and get some pictures of him to you soon. Hope all is well with you and I'm looking forward to seeing the new puppies on the blog when they arrive. Tim's pup is doing very well also, Roby Jr. ~Shawn

Hi Ava!! Hope all is well. I thought that I would give you an update on Cody. He is doing great and is a wonderful addition to our family. He has quite a personality! He doesn't listen to me that much but he listens to my husband which I find strange because I am with him more.....He makes us laugh so much! He is goofy!

Jack at 10 weeks old

Hi Ava, Here are some pictures of Jack after we got him home and settled. He loves his backyard and his 2 little swimming pools. We will send some more recent pictures of him soon. We just LOVE him SSSSOOO much. We hope Robey is doing just fine. We took him yesterday to the Vet and he has had he received his next set of shots.
Rod, Rhonda and Jack

Hi Ava,
We're so glad you liked the pix. I wanted to tell you myself what joy Jack has brought to my life. My dad is very sick with cancer and over the last few months there's been alot of sadness and tears. Jack has been THE BEST MEDICINE FOR ME! He is such a treasure- I never knew I could love an animal SO MUCH! We're hoping to find a playmate for him as it is really difficult for me to leave him and go to work . You know how sometimes people say dogs and their owners look alike; well, I hope that someday someone will pay me that compliment! LOL! He is so beautiful. Rod and I were just saying this morning how fun it would be to see how Jack's siblings were growing. We don't mind at all if you post the photos or letters. Perhaps the other new owners would enjoy it as well. Oh, before I sign off, we also wanted to thank you for forwarding all those pictures of Jack as a puppy- How nice it is to have those! : ) Take care and please give Robey and Vreni a pet for us. Liesl too!
Sincerely, Rhonda and Jack

Hello Ava, Sorry it has taken me so long to get a picture to you.....Bo is doing so great We love him so much. He absolutely loves to play fetch!! (genetic??<smile>) We had the inground fence from Dogguard put in in the middle of September and he has not even tried to go across any boundary in our yard since he figured it out on the fifth day!!! It is so wonderful to know that he is safe and happy in our big yard. I will be posting a new video of him on youtube soon so I will email you when I do. He still hasn't gotten his left ear up yet...but he is working on it!!!!!!!!! Congratulations to Robey on his first trophy!!! Take Care, Carey and Family
