Happy Birthday, Dear Aunt Shirley

Sung to the tune of The Merry Widow Waltz — we sang it to Aunt Shirley and to whoever else had a birthday that month — about 17 times.

Aunt Shirley: What’s this for?
Me: It’s for the French onion soup.
Aunt Shirley: My, my. What will they think of next.

Do you remember the time you fell down at the train station and we had to patch you up?

My always smiling dear Aunt Shirley.

Now, let’s all sing in four part harmony.

My cousin Lorraine and her husband Ron.

Hansel, looking for Gretel.

One of my favorite memories is listening to Aunt Shirley play the piano.

Helena, wondering how we could get a piano like this into our living room.

This is how it goes……

Mrs. Shirley Joyful Thomas, Davenport, Iowa

Capable hands.

Laurie, your relatives talk more than mine do.

The grand finale — “You’re Just In Love.”

How young do you think my Aunt Shirley is?
