Trivium Pursuit

Free Offer From the Math Worksheet Site

I’m doing my catalog run-throughs, have read Teaching the Trivium again, and am comparison shopping everything on my 28-item list for the coming year. I’ve got 3 boys, 9yo, 7yo and almost 2yo. We did 2 years of Saxon math, but have been much happier with Singapore this last year for both big boys, but it’s still not much fun for the 7yo. I re-read the sections on delayed math in Teaching the Trivium and am considering not ordering any math for this coming year! Very scary. Please speak to this, oh seasoned ones! What ‘daily concrete math’ should I be sure to integrate during the year? I’m praying for wisdom, please supply advice! Laura

Hello Laura,

My husband developed The Math Worksheet Site in part due to the exact dilemma you’re facing … great advice from the Bluedorns but not quite the courage to delay all paper-and-pencil math until age ten or so.

With The Math Worksheet Site you can create an endless supply of printable math worksheets. The intuitive interface gives you the ability to easily customize each worksheet to target your student’s specific needs. Every worksheet is created when you request it, so they are different every time.

This way you can add the practice that your student needs to a curriculum you already like, or you can be freed from the constraints of a workbook or textbook that gives either too much or too little practice if you’d rather direct the studies yourself.

On one blog entry I described my dd#3’s interaction with math. She worked in spurts, yet accomplished in 8 months of effort that which most children grind through in 3 years. Being able to customize her paper-and-pencil practice to move along quickly at appropriate times gave me the freedom to give her lots of ‘breaks’ when she wanted or needed them.

We were honored by a sound endorsement by Laurie in February. “The Math Worksheet Site is the brilliant brainchild of Scott Bryce. For just a few dollars a year, you can print out an unlimited number of hundreds of types of math worksheets, all printed out to your own specifications. Amazing. I would include a subscription to this website on my list of essentials for a homeschooling family.” (Thanks again, Laurie!)

I would be happy to give you a free week of access to “test drive” the subscribers area of The Math Worksheet Site, Laura — and the rest of the Trivium Pursuit Blog readers, too. Please mention that you read about my offer here on the Trivium Pursuit Blog and that you’d like a week’s test drive.

Yours in Christ,
