Reading in Bluff, New Zealand

Children of Peter and Ruth V. at the Stirling Point International Signpost

Bluff (population less than 2000) is a seaport and the southernmost town of the South Island of New Zealand. It is the oldest European town in New Zealand, having been established in 1824. Stirling Point International Signpost marks the land’s end of New Zealand and is as far south as one can drive. The numbers on the sign indicate the distance to the South Pole (2989 miles) and eleven other parts of the world.
