Three Levels to Mastering Greek

1. Learn to read and pronounce the Greek Alphabet, then to pronounce Greek words. When a child can do this in English, he can begin to do this in Greek. After this is developed, a Greek-English Interlinear Bible may be useful in developing a feel for the Greek language itself.
2. Learn to understand basic Greek vocabulary, look up words in the Greek lexicon, and recognize their part of speech and grammatical inflection. When a child can do this in English, he can begin to do this in Greek. This is generally more successful if one begins about age thirteen.
3. Learn to understand and accurately translate most any passage out of the Greek New Testament without looking up more than a few words. This is the ultimate goal, and if it is pursued with diligence, it could be accomplished by age eighteen.
